Saying that the problem was framed beautifully means agreeing 100% with what Tommy Dee wrote. I can’t agree with everything Dee wrote.
The Knicks have not won with Nate, but how long did it take Jordon to make the playoffs? Nate isn’t Jordon, but those Bulls were not these recent Dolan’s Knicks either.
Nate needed his time to develop and develop nicely he has under all the BS that Dolan’s Knicks has provided. No way was Nate going to provide winning to the Knicks in his first few seasons with what the organization provided him. Same with Lee.
Now, this is why the future is here. It starts now. Lee and Nate are all grown up. Still young and learning, but it’s time to put up or shut up. Lee and Nate had break out seasons, but how good they are; can finally be measured for the first time in how this season ends. To make the playoffs we need a couple or few stars to take center stage. Lee and Nate can finally be critic because the playoffs are at hand with them leading the charge. The table has finally been set, put up or shut up.
It will truely be great to see the playoff push with Lee, Nate and cast of Harrington, Hughes, Chandler, Duhon and Gallo. Gallo’s health will be measured and if he can go 25-30 minutes the Knicks are surely in.
Heri, you summed up the flaw in your argument all on your own. Nate is not Jordan. If Nate was Jordan, there’d be nothing to discuss. Nate isn’t even Iverson. He’s merely a talented undersized guard who’s self-centered game might be stunting the growth of other players that are more important to the future of the franchise.
The fact that Nate doesn’t know this is the biggest problem, and the reason why he probably won’t be around next season.
NATE IS A BALL HOG WHO FREEZES GALLO AND SHOOULD BE TRADED FOR SERGIO AND DRAFT CHOICE OR FARMAR AND DRAFT CHOICE.
I agree that Nate isn’t Jordon or Iverson. How many Jordon or Iverson are there?
I understand that Nate is Nate, and Nate has shown flashes of great at a young age.
Nate is good and will be better. If Jordon or Iverson is reason to be rid of Nate, why not be rid of all the players?
As for stunting the growth of other players, I guess you mean Gallo and what has been written about his 17 points due to Nate not playing. Also written is that Nate doesn’t pass to Gallo.
I don’t know what’s going on with Nate and Gallo or if it’s true that Nate is not playing with Gallo. This would truly be an issue that needs to be addressed.
But, the very limited growth of Gallo is due more to a bad back. The organization should be more concerned about Gallo’s health into the future because the threat seems real.
No one is untouchable on the Knicks, all can be traded; in my mind. The thing is that we must get equal or better value and not lose out on trades.
Sergio and Farmer are nothing to brag about. A draft choice can turn out to be a bust, unless you know exactly who the draft pick will be and he be a Ricky Rubio. Trades no good for Nate.
I read the comments in this article and it seems that there are alot of people who don’t necessarily agree with Tommy Dee’s assesment. Here’s one in particluar that I think gives perspective to Nate’s situation:
“
I don’t think Nate is the main culprit, Duhon is. Get Nate (and the Knicks) a real play-creating pg and all your ball-hog problems are gone. Duhon is wilding inconsistent when it comes to facilitating the offensive attack, ESPECIALLY late in the game. Notice how most of the ball sticking happens in the late 3rd/4th quarter when Knicks need one player to step up and take over. Al has the SAME EXACT problems as Nate when he’s forced to be the go-to guy…
Nate is a 2, and unless he goes through some miraculous passing clinic in the off-season he’ll never be a 1 or even a combo. D’Antoni already experimented with Nate running the point earlier in the season with mixed results. Yet late in the game, Nate is almost always taking the ball up the court because Duhon seems incapable creating a play the big possessions. Krypto has no choice but to create all his shots out of thin air. We should be a little thankful Nate has that uncanny ability to get a shot and/or get to the foul line whenever he wants. The fact is that we would have lot fewer W’s if he didn’t.“
