Curry to Scurry to Detroit

As Howard Beck reports, Curry’s agent, Leon Rose (who represents, inter alia, Johnny Flynn, oh, and uh, LeBron James), came up with the idea to send Knick’s center of gravity Eddy Curry away to fat camp in Michigan during the off-season. Rose thinks that Curry’s knee problems are directly related to his being fat and lazy.

This is a win-win. If Curry gets in shape and his knees are OK then maybe the Knicks can increase his value enough to trade him next year. If he gets in shape and his knees are still problematic, maybe he takes a medical retirement.

I just love it that LeBron’s agent is being so helpful to Knicks in facilitating their 2010 plan…dare I raise the LeBroptimism yet again over this? I’ll mull it over.

UPDATE (via Isola): Also looks like Worldwide Wes and Donnie Walsh have been engaged in some strategery, possibly concerning Curry, and yes, LeBron:

When Knicks president Donnie Walsh met briefly with William Wesley before Wednesday’s season finale, their conversation focused on the off-season conditioning program of Eddy Curry. Whether Curry, who appeared in just three games, will follow his weight-lifting, weight-reducing regime is anyone’s guest.

But Wesley’s first appearance at the Garden this year was also noteworthy because not only is he an adviser to Curry, but Wesley is also one of LeBron James’ most trusted confidants. And in case you haven’t heard, James will be a free agent next summer and the Knicks are creating salary cap space to sign him.
