UPDATE: Check out part 1 of our mock draft!
Ok. No harm no foul.
The Knicks stayed put and, if Steph Curry is the target, the lottery actually worked out pretty nicely as both the Thunder and Grizzlies, two teams ahead of the Knicks where Curry seemed like a plausible fit, shot up into the top 3 where Curry won’t be part of their equation.
The big winner today is Memphis, as they’ll likely draft Ricky Rubio and allow him and Conley to duke it out for the starting PG job. And the only real loser I can see is Blake Griffin who, in all liklihood, will have to begin his NBA career as a Clipper.
We’ll be back up with our mock lottery in a little bit. And I’ll have a full mock first round up later on tonite or tomorrow morning.

As long as Curry stays at #8, I am satisfied assuming all the reports of the Knicks wanting him are true. What I am worried about is that he moves up and we can’t get our PG/SG of the future out of this draft.
there should be an NBA rule that says that the Clippers can no longer get into the top 5 in any draft lottery. I mean, how many times have they been there? And how many times have they gotten the #1 pick. It’s ridiculous.
And YES I am pissed off. I wanted Rubio. The Knicks can’t catch a break…
Don’t stress Stallion. I do think Curry is going to be there for us, especially now, but if he’s not the Knicks will still have plenty of fine guard prospects to choose from.
We do not want Stephen Curry at #8. That would be a huge leap. We have an undersized combo guard already and his name is Nate Robinson, who the Knicks will already have to decide whether to resign or not. The guy who would fit nicely with the Wislon Chandler, David Lee, Danillo Gallinari, Nate nucleus in the key 2010 year will be either Pitt’s Dewan Blair or Gonzaga’s Austin Daye. Daye would fit D’Antoni’s system perfect with his size, range and potential, and Blair is just simply a beast who will beat up people inside, something the knicks haven’t had since the days of Oak and Mase. Wake up Knick fans, before we miss another golden opportunity.
Matt,
I think Nate has more or less worn out his welcome in NY. He’s not “team” oriented, he’s a huge liability on defense, and he’s still immature and mistake prone under pressure.
He’s talented and certainly fits somehere as an energy guy coming off the bench, but I think a guy like Curry would make it easier to use him in some kind of trade scenario that either gets rid of a bad contract or gets us a big man.
