Thank you Chad Ford. Thank you.

From Chad Ford’s latest chat:

Steiny (NYC): Do the Knicks still plan on buying Stephon Marbury out?

SportsNation Chad Ford: Most over reported story of the year. Does anyone REALLY care? We’ve had some slow news days and a lot of New York newspaper guys are treating this like LeBron. The guy has no future with the Knicks. If he has no future with the Knicks, do you really think he’s the missing piece to a championship contender? Please. Whether the Knicks buy him out or not makes zero difference to their future. Whether the Celtics, or some other team sign him, won’t be a big factor one way or the other. Marbury needs to pack his bags and head to Europe.

if i was knicks president and i respected the fans, the team and basketball, i wouldnt give gallinari spree’s number 8 unless he had publically declared to took number eight jersey in latrell’s honor. first. second. we have one chance to be in the postseason: stephon marbury. we always lose by a small margin, dont you think thar small margin is smaller than the difference in skills between nice guy duhon and steph? come on are we serious? whenever a player doesnt do good it’s always that he has to change, why? I mean we are talking about marbury. He is a champ! try to make him comfortable to show his skills. He is paid, he is part of team, he is icon, he is steph. He doesnt have to be traded to boston, he should have played, he has to play. That’s why we pay tickets to see the team, we pay the kicks jerseys, this is why every fan has put together a small amount of money. to pay for the show. 20+ millions of that conctract come from fans money. he has to play. We want steph back.

:) well i brought up my last fan emotions and i said if I was the president not you. Im a fan whatever i say it’s personal doesnt have to be shared. I said spree, but of course LJ KVH it’s same story to me. starks i dunno he is an icon too yeah but marbury is marbury man he is NY as you love it or hate it.
Spree is Spree, Steph is Steph like NY is. A bad boy with a heart ;)

I am a fan that supported the move to get Steph, and really thought at the time that Isaih would even influence and improve his point guard skills. I must disagree with the whole “Steph is an icon thing”.
Just making it to the NBA is a great accomplishment to be admired, however, if your refering to what he has done IN the NBA I can’t see icon. Personally, I believe he should have played in the beginning of the season. He also refused to play when needed. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Too much ego on both ends to allow Steph to play as a Knick again.

no dan, man i just meant what you said right after that it’s my point of view, it doesnt have to be yours to. I wanted to make it public. I see what your point is. I say he is paid for it. He is his duty as long as a team duty to make all the conditions suitable for him to play. I think you gt what i mean but it’s like you have a supercar rented for 20+ millions a year and you dont put in on the street because you cant drive or it has a flat tyre. It’s not the car fault. Fix the tyre, learn to drive. I dunno Stephon as a person. But I like him as a symbol. as i told u a bad boy with heart. as spree. However it a pleasure talking to you.
    Have a nice day, man.
    Lillo

and of course i fully trust him on what he says on his shape and he is technical skills. he is a champ.
    c ya dan,

    Lillo

Thanks Lillo. I’m glad we got that straightened out. I disagree. The last time Steph was a champ at anything was in high school. In high school he was a fly whip. Now he’s a hoop-d. In the NBA he’s been in the playoffs 3 times and didn’t do much. Spree really did have a heart and the teams he was on were always good. One finals appearance and deep into the playoffs many other times. Can’t say that for Steph.

  8. lillo venezia says:

Dan man, i dont get into arguing, knowing before that im gonna be right at the end. Same this time. And with my mind i must say you persuaded me. Especially the spree comparison is very strong. But still I say the best for marbury has yes to come. I dunno if it is my heart or something like intuition (possibly wrong), but still i’d bet on steph. Last chance. And I cannot even imagine if he goes to boston. the guy is a granted 15pts 4assts a game. if he is in shape as he says or if he gets in shape, could be 20 and 7 a game as a starer. If he is in shape and he is properly coached and motivated (like proving something to people, former coaches, teams, cities) he could be just mayhem for the other teams. Dan you persuaded me 100% with your words, i give you credit. My instict goes still with Steph and i want him in ny and not in boston. thanks dan it’s cool to read what you have to say. you are not just a fan, you are serious.

  9. Dan L says:

Thanks Lillo! Hey, I don’t wish bad things on Marbury. I hope he goes somewhere and does great! In my experience here in NY he hasn’t done much winning for us. But there is no denying he’s super talented and maybe he could really really help some team. He had a chance to help the Knicks but for a number of reasons (not all his fault), it didn’t work out. All the best to Steph, wherever he goes.

  10. Evan says:

Steph would absolutely help the celtics. Tony allen is a horrid player logging serious minutes at guard.

  11. Dan L says:

Lillo…I may be misunderstanding you about the “it’s personal doesn’t have to be shared” thing. If you mean that you didn’t want your comment made public and that you just wanted to email us, you can do that on the contact page (link on top of the page). The comments after the posts are all public comments. Again, I may be misunderstanding you on this. Anyway, I know Steph has some supporters but I’m not one. I respect your opinion but disagree with it. I don’t think he’d help this team all that much in terms of wins and losses.
