Chris Sheridan Will Not Be Held Accountable

So don’t try to do it.

Just before Christmas, Sheridan had the following to say about Gallinari:

I’ll take the multidimensional player over the one-trick specialist every time… Plus, Gallinari gets attacked every night on defense.

This comment is the conventional wisdom party line, so I wasn’t really surprised to see it, even though most anyone who watches Knicks games on a regular basis (except for Sheridan), knows it to be false. Sure Gallo shoots and hits a lot of threes but he has proven himself adept at passing, taking it to the basket and drawing fouls as well.

And yes, Gallinari gets attacked on defense on a nightly basis but guess what, he’s developed a knack for shot-blocking, and has displayed the ability, a la Jared Jeffries, to stay in front of quick point guards. Recently Mike D’Antoni has, with success, put Gallinari on the likes of Tony Parker and Baron Davis, for example.

So, when offered a chance to admit that Gallinari isn’t a “one-trick specialist” in a chat today, Sheridan punted on accountability and changed the subject altogether:

Nevermind the 3pt. contest, how about the dunk contest! Did you see my hops last night???

Dunk of the week was the one I saw Delonte throw down over Josh Smith in the forst Hawks-Cavs game last night. I was told the next night what Delonte yelled at J.Smoove afterward, and I’d love to share it with you, but this is a family Web site, the comment would be shocking even to porn stars, and I want no part of starting a Top 10 list of Best Things Said Immediately After Posteringing a Guy. Delonte’s three-word phrase would be a lock for Top 3.
